Why camera distance matters
Changing the way you photograph a face can change the impression of its proportions.
Make comparisons deliberate
Use the same device, camera, distance, framing, and light when taking comparison photographs. Keep a note of the setup. A change in the photograph is not necessarily a change in the face.
Use a neutral starting point
For your intake, face the camera at eye level with a neutral expression. Step back far enough to frame your whole face comfortably. Avoid extreme close-ups, wide-angle effects, filters, and portrait reshaping.
Know the limit
A consistent setup reduces variation; it does not create a three-dimensional measurement or certify accuracy. Your reviewer can request a retake when the photos do not support an observation.
